Read this first: 1 Samuel 20:33-34
His temper further inflamed by Jonathan's defence of David's innocence, Saul lashes out and nearly kills his son. So Jonathan now sees plainly that David spoke the truth (v3) and exits the feast livid that his father should act like this! When loved ones behave sinfully we can be left upset and embarrassed, and tempted to excuse or hide their misconduct. Don't. Sin is sin.
