The rulers don't approve of you

Read this first: 1 Samuel 29:6-7
In his naivety about his 'loyal friend', Achish gushes words to assure David of his trust, even using the Lord's name and blaming his fellow rulers for David's rejection (it was actually the commanders - v3). Be wary of one who flatters you overly and smears others. Their motives are often self-serving (Rom 16:18) and their words will soon prove harmful to you (Pro 26:28).
