Read this first: 1 Samuel 28:4-5
Crisis strikes Israel as a Philistine invasion cuts the country in two. Yet where can Saul find help? Samuel is dead (v3); David has fled (27:1); things with Jonathan are difficult (20:30-34); his general, Abner, has let him down (26:13-16). So Saul feels alone and terrified. When we disconnect from the Lord we lose more than just Him: other parts of life start to unravel too.
