Read this first: 1 Samuel 27:3-4
David takes a great risk in arriving in Philistia not only with 600 men but with families in tow, including his own. However, this bold strategy pays off: Achish accepts him and Saul sees his hunt is over. Believers are sometimes protected by those who, in other contexts, would oppose us. Give thanks for such surprising 'friends' that the sovereign Lord graciously provides to us.
