Read this first: 1 Samuel 26:21
Though not tearful like before (24:16), Saul admits sin and folly. Then he appeals to David as his son to be with him again, for David has been gracious. When others repeatedly sin against us, we should not go hard but offer a generous forgiveness as those who have been forgiven much (Mat 18:21-35). However, that doesn't mean things can go back to the way they were.
