Read this first: 1 Samuel 25:39-40
David has acted admirably by not striking Saul (24:10) and by stopping his angry march when Abigail came for peace (25:34). But he's not perfect, and in an act which reminds of Samuel's warning about kings (8:10-18), he takes the wealthy widow as a second wife whilst his first is still alive. Only one man was sinless (Heb 4:15). Praise God that that man - Jesus - is our king!
