Read this first: 1 Samuel 25:29
Abigail's superb speech continues with an assurance of David's safety. She speaks of it in ways reminiscent of his battle with Goliath when David held five sling stones but threw only one (17:40). In coming days, the Lord will cast David's enemies away like that stone, whereas David will be kept close like the four in the pouch. The Lord protects the lives of those he loves.
