Read this first: 1 Samuel 22:20-21
God moved David into a less secure camp (v5) and now a man finds him. He comes with news that, due to royal criminality, he is the last in a multi-generational family of priests. But why did God allow such a tragedy to strike? It's the outworking of Ahitub's father's wicked deeds (2:30-33). Sins have consequences, even many years later. Only Jesus can save us from them.
