Read this first: 1 Samuel 22:8-9
Saul's self-obsessed mental state leads him down deeper and deeper into slander: everyone is against him! This breaks God's ninth commandment (Exo 20:16) and leaves him open to exploition by the foreign mercenary Doeg. We must not say of others what we know to be false, nor speak of others what we cannot be sure is true. Use words with care (1Pe 3:10).
