Read this first: 1 Samuel 21:7
Suddenly, we realise why David's subterfuge was so necessary. A foreign agent of Saul's is (not by his own choice) at the Tabernacle! This dark providence means the man observes all that happens. Why does God give the wicked such moments? It's hard for us to see. But we do know that though evil has its brief time, God will ensure good lasts for ever (Rev 22:12-15).
