Read this first: James 4:12
The Christians James is addressing are judging each other by their own standards, leading to ugly conflict (v1-4). It's quite proper for a Christian to point out the sins of others (Mat 18:15-20). But it must be according to God's law, not our own rules and desires. And we identify sin with the hope of the sinner's repentance (5:19-20), not to win personal victories over them.
