Read this first: James 3:12
A tree's fruit always matches its type; likewise, says James, fresh water can't come from a salty spring. This is how life works, including with us. Our heart inside and the words we speak are intimately linked. To speak what's good, we need the Spirit to change our hearts. To have a clean heart, we need the Spirit's help to speak well. You can't have one without the other.
