Read this first: 1 Samuel 29:11
A new day dawns in a strange way, with David marching into Philistia and the Philistines into Israel — the latter to face Saul's army (v1). Does David feel regret over not helping Saul, or relief that he's not involved? Or is it both? Such mixed emotions can be hard to process and leave us feeling guilty. But we are free to do what seems wisest, so long as it isn't sinful.
