Read this first: 1 Samuel 27:11
Operating from Philistine territory means David having to implement the ancient policy of "take no prisoners" (Deu 20:13-16) as he extends Israel's land. Military strategy sadly has to adopt such approaches at times. But the Lord's eternal kingdom of peace does not grow this way (Mat 26:51-56). In this world, it brings love not destruction (Gal 5:13-24). Praise the Lord!
