Read this first: 1 Samuel 13:8-9
Obedience for Saul is simple: wait for Samuel to arrive, make sacrifice and tell him his next task (10:8). But when the prophet doesn't appear, the stress of invasion drives Saul to take matters into his own hands, resulting in a sacrifice of disobedience. We must patiently trust in the Lord. Impatience leads too easily into rash decisions with undesired consequences.
