Saul has attacked

Read this first: 1 Samuel 13:4
News passes that Saul has struck the enemy, but it was actually Jonathan. However, his name is used to gather the people since a deadly response is now expected. Taking other's glory for ourselves is theft. It's bad when we do this by claiming the successes of others as our own. It's evil when we lap up praise for ourselves without honouring the Lord who made us (Ac 12:23).
